Description

Keep up with a parent who lives alone without hovering. WalkWise® by Drive is a smart walker activity monitor: a small sensor zip-ties to one wheel of any walker or rollator and tracks how far, how long and when it moves, so family gets a clear picture of a normal day and a heads-up when one looks different. It's a senior monitoring system with nothing to wear, nothing to charge and no phone for the person using the walker. Two AAA batteries last over a year, setup takes about five minutes, and notifications for a tipped walker, a long stretch without movement or a distance goal met go to whoever you choose.

Know How the Day Went, From Anywhere

Built for families who can't be there every day. WalkWise® turns an ordinary walker into a window on the day: how far it went, how long, what time, and whether anything looked different from usual.

Families Love Using WalkWise

  • “After installing the WalkWise on my mother’s walker, it has become a routine conversation starter…..”I see you walked almost a mile today!” or “how is your day going?” after seeing a limited amount of walking. The app allows multiple family members track her activity, which provides peace of mind when we can’t be there personally on a daily basis. I would not want to be without WalkWise going forward.”
    - Jim, Verified Buyer

  • "The fact that this app can track how many steps I take each day is helpful. My ability to walk is seriously compromised, but at least I have the assurance that I am doing what is necessary. My medical alert pendant doesn't tell my son if the walker tips, if I haven't walked as much as usual, or if I haven't walked at all. WalkWise does. It has given me great peace of mind, and I would highly recommend WalkWise® for anyone who uses a walker."
    - Marietta, Verified Buyer

  • “Before I had my WalkWise, I found it oh-so-easy to take a day off from walking and spend it with my nose in a book, but now that I have it, walking is fun. I play a little game with myself to see how close I can get to my goal each day. I’ve made it a few times, and felt good about myself and have slept well.”
    - Clara, Verified Buyer

  • "I purchased the WalkWise for my 90 year old mother who lives alone on a farm much of the year. It works great! No problems. It gives me much peace of mind to know when she's active... or not. I love it!"
    - Tom, Verified Buyer

The WalkWise App

With an active subscription, the app shows today's distance, the last time the walker moved, and a 30-day view. Notifications go out for the things worth knowing: a tipped walker, hours without movement, more nighttime activity than usual, or a distance goal met.

  • WalkWise® vs. Leading Tracking Devices

Family-Inspired Care

Kathleen, grandmother of WalkWise inventor Peter Chamberlain, lived alone on the family farm. She had a walker and a medical alert button, so the family assumed she was covered. Then she had a serious fall in a room where neither one was within reach, and it was a neighbor passing the window who found her.

Peter's takeaway was simple: a walker only helps when it's used, and family should hear about a change in routine while there's still time to check in. Kathleen recovered (she's now 100), and WalkWise is what Peter built so other families could know how the day went without having to hover.

Do I need a subscription, and what does it include?

Yes. The sensor needs an active subscription to send notifications and show data in the app. Your first three months are $1 a month, then it's $14.99 a month, or $11.99 a month when you pay for the year. That covers real-time notifications, the full activity history, unlimited Care Circle members, and help from a real person at no extra charge. You can cancel from the Account screen in the app at any time, and the device itself is covered by our 90-day returns.

Does WalkWise detect falls or call for help?

No. WalkWise® is not an emergency response system and doesn't detect falls or contact emergency services. It can tell the Care Circle that the walker tipped over or hasn't moved in a set number of hours, which is useful to know, but it isn't a replacement for a medical alert pendant. Most monitoring devices for seniors either have to be worn or watch a room; WalkWise does neither, so many families use it alongside a pendant.

Will it fit the walker or rollator we already have?

Yes, as long as it has wheels. The sensor zip-ties to one wheel of any brand of walker or rollator, and the zip ties are in the box. A standard walker with no wheels can't be tracked, since WalkWise® counts wheel turns.

How can I keep an eye on a parent who lives alone without a camera?

WalkWise® records only two things: wheel turns and whether the sensor is upright. No camera, no microphone, no location. From the wheel turns it works out distance, how long the walker moved and at what time of day, and shows that hour by hour, day by day and month to month. Family sees the pattern of the day, not the person.

Does the person using the walker need a phone or Wi-Fi?

They need home Wi-Fi for the plug-in node, and that's all. No phone, no app, no charging, nothing to remember. The two AAA batteries in the sensor last over a year. Whoever is checking in uses the app on their own phone, from anywhere.

Does it still record when the walker leaves the house?

Yes. The sensor records around the clock, even away from the node, and uploads everything once it's back within range. Most notifications only send while the walker is near the node, so every step still counts, you just won't get a live notification from the grocery store.

Can my brother and the home aide get the notifications too?

Yes. The device admin adds anyone to the Care Circle from the app's settings, with no limit and no extra fee. Each person gets their own login and picks their own notifications and how to get them: app, text, phone call or email. Looking after two people? Each walker needs its own sensor and subscription, and you can switch between them from the home screen.

I use a walker myself. Is WalkWise for me?

Yes. Plenty of people set up WalkWise® for themselves: a daily distance goal, a look back at how active the week was, and family who can check in without calling to ask. You decide who's in your Care Circle, and nothing about how you use your walker changes.
