What you'll be testing

WalkWise by Drive is our activity-monitoring technology, designed to help you and your family see how active you've been.

This early prototype is attached to a HurryCane®. The final product may look different, and your feedback will help shape it.

How it works

  1. Use your cane like usual

The sensor sits on the cane itself, so there's nothing to wear, carry, or charge.

  2. It notices when the cane is moving

It keeps track of when, and for how long, the cane is in use each day.

  3. See it in the app

Check activity over time, and share it with family or a caregiver if you'd like.

The person using the cane doesn't need to use a phone. The app can live on their phone, or on a loved one's. Our team will help you or your family get the app set up.

One cane, two kinds of peace of mind

Use it for yourself, share it with family, or both. It's your choice.

For the person using the cane

  • See how active you've been each day and week
  • Notice your own trends over time
  • No watch or wristband to keep track of

For family and caregivers

  • A simple way to know your loved one is up and about
  • A gentle heads-up if activity is lower than usual
  • Fewer "just checking in" calls

What being a tester looks like

Sidney Collin

You'll work directly with Sidney Collin

Clinical VP of Technology & Innovation, Drive Medical at Home

"The people who use a cane day to day know things our design team can't learn any other way. I want to hear what you'd keep, what you'd change, and what would make this worth having."

What you get

  • A direct say in shaping the final product, as one of only 10 households
  • A HurryCane® with the prototype sensor, free
  • Yours to keep after the trial
  • 10% off your next order as a thank-you

What we ask

  • Use it as usual for 6 to 8 weeks
  • 2 or 3 calls with Sidney, about 30 minutes each

No cost, no obligation, stop anytime.

Questions you might have

Do I need to own a HurryCane®?

No. We'll send you one. You're welcome to apply whether or not you've used a HurryCane® before.

Is this the final product?

No. You'll be testing an early prototype, with the sensor attached to the cane. The final design may look and work differently, and your feedback will help shape it.

Do I need a smartphone?

Someone needs one to use the app, but it doesn't have to be you. A family member or loved one can use it, whether or not they live with you.

Will the cane feel different?

The sensor adds a small piece to the cane. Part of the trial is hearing from you about how it feels day to day.

Is this an emergency or fall alert device?

No. It notices activity and trends over time, but it doesn't detect falls or call for help.

What if I change my mind during the trial?

Just let Sidney know. There's no obligation.

How are testers chosen?
